Canning 101: Introduction to Canning

Pressure canning can seem DAUNTING! But never fear, it’s easier than you think. Green beans are what I consider a beginner friendly vegetable that’s easy to pressure can. There are two methods to canning green beans - hot pack and raw pack. Hot packing is nearly all the same steps as raw pack except you will blanch the green beans for 1-2 minutes in boiling water first before filling into jars. Raw pack or cold pack method is just filling the jars with uncooked green beans and pressure canning.

Pressure canning can be so intimidating, but I actually think it's just as easy as water bath canning! In fact, canning in general isn't "hard" as long as you can follow a recipe/instructions. Here are some of my favorite things to pressure can because they are so easy! ☺️ . Green beans - just wash, snap the ends off, snap the beans in half, pack them raw into your jars 🌱 . Broth - make broth, put into jars.....yes it's that simple 😉 . Beans - soak and boil dry beans, ladle hot beans into jars
