The Toa Metru were a team of Toa who rescued the Matoran of Metru Nui after the Great Cataclysm. They were mutated into Toa Hordika for a brief period but were later cured by Keetongu. They used their Toa Power to awaken the Matoran and became Turaga in the process. A thousand years ago, the city of Metru Nui was in danger.
