In March 2022, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released the long-awaited update to its Advisory Circular (AC) 150/5300-13B, Airport Design, providing new guidelines and recommendations for the geometric layout and design of runways, taxiways, aprons, and other facilities at civil airports.
Determine the maximum wind coverage and the best direction of runway. The permissible cross wind component may be assumed as suitable for mixed category of aircrafts. It is based on direction and duration of wind. Minimum eight directions are taken but optimum is 16 directions. Data includes total percentage of time in each direction.
